The Vancouver Wooden Boat Society is a non profit society composed of Wooden Boat owners and anyone who has an interest in all things to do with wooden boats.
The Purposes of the Society are:- -To promote, encourage and facilitate interest in wooden boats and any and all activities involving and related to wooden boats. -To promote, organize and sponsor any activities involving and related to wooden boats. - To provide information and any forms of assistance to owners and potential owners of wooden boats and wooden boat enthusiasts. - To disseminate information with regard to wooden boats through all means, including exhibits and displays. - To co-operate with public and private agencies, governmental departments and other groups, organizations and individuals interest in the projects of the society.
MEETINGS AND EVENTS Meetings are usually held the second (2nd) Wednesday evening of each month. The meeting format could be a business meeting or information/social session with guest speakers etc. depending on the needs of the society. Most meetings are held at the Britannia Heritage Shipyard, 5180 Westwater Drive in Steveston, BC. Some business meetings may be held at locations to be determined. Click on this LINK to view upcoming meetings or events. The VWBS also produces the VANCOUVER WOODEN BOAT FESTIVAL held on the third weekend in August every year at Granville Island. The Society also plans a few marine events throughout the year where members and guests can meet on the water at some location with their boats and participate in different activities.
